Three steps to start scouting.
New families are welcome any time of year, not just in the fall. Here's how it works.
Three simple steps
Reach out
Email Jessica Allen, our New Member Coordinator, with your scout's name, grade, and any questions. We'll respond within a day or two and invite you to an open house or den meeting.
Visit a meeting
Come see what scouting feels like before signing up. Visiting is free and there's no commitment — meet the leaders, watch the scouts, and ask anything you'd like.
Register online
When you're ready, register through Scouting America's online form. We'll help you pick up a handbook and uniform shirt and get you set with your den.
Ready to register?
Both links below go to Scouting America. The first is for general information; the second is the direct registration form for Pack 818.
Request information
Get more info from Scouting America about the program, costs, and what to expect — without committing to register.
Request information →Register with Pack 818
Sign up directly with Pack 818 through the Scouting America online registration form.
Register now →Need help with registration?
If you get stuck on any part of the online form, email allenfamilyst.serra@gmail.com and we'll walk you through it. We've all been there.
What to bring (and not bring)
Don't worry about gear, uniforms, or handbooks for your very first visit. Just show up curious. Once you're registered, we'll guide you through what to pick up.
For the first visit
- Your scout, dressed for the weather
- A parent or caregiver
- Questions — bring lots
After registration
- Cub Scout handbook for your rank
- Uniform shirt (we can point you to the Scout Shop)
- Optional neckerchief and slide
Questions before you sign up?
Jessica Allen is our New Member Coordinator. She's happy to talk through anything before you commit.
