About Pack 818

A Catholic pack with a place for every family.

We are chartered by St. Serra Catholic School in Rancho Santa Margarita, welcoming scouts of all faiths and from all schools across south Orange County.

Our mission

Building character through faith, family, and the outdoors

Cub Scout Pack 818 is more than a youth program — it's a community. Our scouts develop confidence and leadership through outdoor adventure, service to others, and the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

As a pack chartered by St. Serra Catholic School, we honor the faith traditions of our community while making space for every family. Scouts of all faiths are welcome, and our Religious Emblems program supports scouts in whatever tradition they practice at home.

How it works

What being a Pack 818 family looks like

📅

Den meetings

Scouts meet about once a month with their den (grouped by grade) for activities and badge work.

🏕

Monthly pack events

The whole Pack comes together monthly for service projects, range days, hikes, and traditions like the Pinewood Derby.

Twice-yearly campouts

Family campouts in the fall and spring — from O'Neill Park to the OC Scout Reservation and beyond.

🌉

Bridging ceremony

Scouts earn their badge of rank at the spring Bridging Ceremony — a special evening for the whole family.

A year in the life

What Cub Scouts actually do

  • Hikes and outdoor exploration in OC's parks, mountains, and beaches
  • Pack and den campouts — day, overnight, and weekend trips
  • Archery and BB gun range days at the OC Scout Reservation
  • The annual Pinewood Derby — design, build, and race a wooden car
  • Sea Base activities, fishing, and water adventures
  • Service projects with St. Serra and the broader parish community
  • Scout Olympics, raingutter regattas, and pack games
  • STEM activities, first aid, citizenship, and healthy living
  • Religious emblems for scouts of every faith tradition

What about cost?

Most activity costs are covered by the Pack's annual popcorn fundraiser, so families don't have to pay out of pocket for events. New this year: BSA national fees waived for first-year applicants — you only pay pack dues.
